Transportations

Transportation in Trancoso is neither the easiest nor the cheapest. That is why staying in Quadrado is also a big plus!

• Renting a car: this may be a decent option if you have a parking place in your hotel - many don’t! And at Quadrado they overly charge for parking. Please notice that in Brazil there is no such thing as drinking and driving. Not even a liquor bonbon is allowed. If you get caught driving with any percentage of alcohol in your blood, you’ll be in serious trouble. It is important to note that the roads are quite bad, especially when it has rained. If you would like to rent a car, rent a higher one.

• Using private drivers: they are very expensive in comparison to Brazilian prices, but likely alright when compared to prices in Europe. You usually need to write them on whatsapp for a pickup and depending on your rush (to and from the airport, this is a must!), it is better to schedule a time in advance or at least let them know half an hour earlier. At quadrado, you can always find cars.

• Mototaxi: we heard about this possibility but never really tried it. We would guess this is only an option if you are traveling alone.

• Walking: it is easy and safe to walk around Quadrado.

• Going to the beach from Quadrado: you can easily walk if you don’t have any physical limitations. Some hotels have a transfer service to the beach.takes around 10-15 minutes and could be entertaining for children, especially at the bottom when you cross  the bridge, because they can spot crabs.

• For the wedding day: complimentary shuttle will be provided to transport guests from the Quadrado to the wedding venue, which is located a bit further away. Return transportation will also be available throughout the evening, with vans running regularly from the venue back to the Quadrado.
